We work with families living in farming communities in the Chorotega Bio Cultural Region of southwestern Nicaragua. Our mission is to offer educational opportunities, ecological restoration support, and public infrastructure support as the communities develop in a materially and culturally sustainable manner.
Learn MoreOn April 2, 2020, after a short illness, and in closure to a long and well-lived life, we sadly lost our matriarch and founding Board member Kitty Gladstone. Kitty, as seen here wielding the scissors in our ribbon-cutting ceremony of 2005, was instrumental in establishing the RBG Community Library, built to honor the memory of her husband Richard Gladstone. She generously supported the RBG Library, and Lone Tree’s activities in general, for all of its 15 years of providing educational opportunities and ecological restoration to our communities. Dear to her heart in her last years of life were efforts to reverse climate change and achieve environmental justice in affected communities by promoting ecologically efficient cookstoves and planting trees.
